Michigan Driver Facing Drunk Driving Charges

A Michigan man is facing serious legal consequences after an arrest for intoxicated driving and other criminal offenses. When he was stopped by law enforcement for suspected drunk driving, he was driving along a portion of I-75 that was closed at the time. He was also stopped with a young child in the car with him at the time.

When police approached the vehicle after stopping him, they said they smelled both alcohol and marijuana. They asked the man to submit to field sobriety tests, which he did not pass. The results of a Breathalyzer test administered by law enforcement revealed that the man’s blood alcohol content was .164%. This is more than double the legal limit for the state, but it was just under the state’s super drunk threshold, which is .17%.

He is charged with intoxicated driving and driving without a license. He is also charged with child endangerment as the child in the backseat was not in a protective seat or wearing a safety belt. Police were alerted to the man’s actions when construction workers noticed someone driving on the closed portion of the interstate.
